Happy 2018, friends!
I hope you all are doing well and are having a wonderful start to your new year!
We just got back from our honeymoon in Punta Cana, and I thought I would share with you some of my favorite outfits that I featured on my Instagram. Hang tight, and I’ll even share a very entertaining story at some point within this post. 😀
As always, you can shop all of my outfits directly via my blog post!
Satchel: Violet Ray // Sneakers: Converse
Casual airport attire. If you’re traveling anywhere, having a satchel purse is an absolute MUST-HAVE! Fun fact: I didn’t realize how bad my flying anxiety was until we flew over the ocean! NEVER AGAIN.
Bikini top and bottom: Target // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Swimsuit cover up and heels are old and out of stock, sorry!!
We stayed at the Majestic Mirage resort, and it was absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommend it. The people were kind and the food was amazing!
Coral bikini top and bottom: Target // Olive bikini top and bottom: Target
If you’re going on your honeymoon, I would recommend bringing two swimsuits. I struggled finding bikinis in the stores in the dead of winter (I would never order a swimsuit online for fitting purposes) and Target was the only place that I could find anything!
Bikini top and bottom: Target // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Hat: Buckle // Shorts: Walmart
…..Yes, that is a cast you are looking at. Unfortunately, I broke my ankle on the first night of our honeymoon. I slipped on some rainwater on the marble stairs and fell about 5-7 stairs, landing wrong. I’m not going to lie, it was a TOTAL buzzkill. I had to go to the emergency room in the Dominican Republic and get a cast on. Let me tell you, you don’t know fear until you head to a hospital 2,000 miles away where hardly anyone speaks English and you don’t know what your insurance covers. The good news is that it was actually a fairly pleasant experience. The doctor was extremely kind and gave me exceptional care (I mean, c’mon, she put a bow on my cast!!!)
I’m actually getting surgery on my ankle later TODAY, so wish me luck!
Dress: Josa Tulum // Bikini Top: Target // Satchel: Violet Ray
I really tried not to let the injury ruin our honeymoon. After all, we paid so much for this vacation, and we didn’t want it to go to waste. We decided to stay for the remaining duration of the trip, since the doctor told me that surgery could wait until I was back in the States. Thus, my trip consisted of hanging by the pool and getting some weird tan lines.
Satchel: Violet Ray // Sunnies: Ray-Ban
My sunnies and my satchel purse were essentially my top two essentials of the whole trip! If you have never gone on an inclusive Caribbean trip, I would recommend packing very light. I found that I wayyyy overpacked what I needed. Keep it simple! Most of the trip, you are just going to be lounging.
Swimsuit coverup: Le Salty Label
I still wanted to blog my outfits, it kept my spirits up!
Top: Maurices // Bikini top: Target // Shorts: Walmart
This camo tee is the perfect tee for any occasion! It knots at the bottom for an effortless, fun fit.
Straw tote: Francesca’s // Hat: Buckle // Flip flops: Reef Bliss
Easy beach essentials! This hat is a huge necessity for shielding the sun. Unfortunately, I was not able to go by the ocean during the trip, which was the biggest bummer of all. I love the ocean and it is what I was most looking forward to seeing in Punta Cana. However, sand and casts do not mix well together! Trevor and I did manage to lay by the ocean once, but it was a huge hassle getting me down there, so we vowed to stay by the pool for the rest of the trip.
Romper: American Eagle
I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this romper! It’s lightweight and has a cozy fit. I wore this to dinner one night
Top: Tilly’s // Shorts: American Eagle
Because my functionality was limited on the trip, I want to give my husband a HUGE shout out for taking such good care of me, and for cracking jokes to keep me smiling. He has been a huge help through all of this. I love you, Trev.
It’s crazy how much we take good health for granted. Breaking my ankle and not being able to do anything for the past week has taught me to slow down in life and appreciate the good people and beauty around me. I’ve been thinking a lot what it means to slow down in life. More on that reflection in my next post!
That’s it for now. I have to start prepping for my surgery. Happy New Year! I hope 2018 brings you happiness and good health!
