Happy 2018, friends!

I hope you all are doing well and are having a wonderful start to your new year!

We just got back from our honeymoon in Punta Cana, and I thought I would share with you some of my favorite outfits that I featured on my Instagram. Hang tight, and I’ll even share a very entertaining story at some point within this post. ūüėÄ

As always, you can shop all of my outfits directly via my blog post!

Satchel: Violet Ray // Sneakers: Converse

Casual airport attire. If you’re traveling anywhere, having a satchel purse is an absolute MUST-HAVE! Fun fact: I didn’t realize how bad my flying anxiety was until we flew over the ocean! NEVER AGAIN.

Bikini top and bottom: Target // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Swimsuit cover up and heels are old and out of stock, sorry!!

We stayed at the Majestic Mirage resort, and it was absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommend it. The people were kind and the food was amazing!

Coral bikini top and bottom: Target // Olive bikini top and bottom: Target

If you’re going on your honeymoon, I would recommend bringing two swimsuits. I struggled finding bikinis¬†in the stores in the dead of winter (I would never order a swimsuit online for fitting purposes) and Target was the only place that I could find anything!

Bikini top and bottom: Target // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Hat: Buckle // Shorts: Walmart

…..Yes, that is a cast you are looking at. Unfortunately, I broke my ankle on the first night of our honeymoon. I slipped on some rainwater on the marble stairs and fell about 5-7 stairs, landing wrong. I’m not going to lie, it was a TOTAL buzzkill. I had to go to the emergency room in the Dominican Republic and get a cast on. Let me tell you, you don’t know fear until you head to a hospital 2,000 miles away where hardly anyone¬†speaks English and you don’t know what your insurance covers. The good news is that it was actually a fairly pleasant experience. The doctor was extremely kind and gave me exceptional care (I mean, c’mon, she put a bow on my cast!!!)

I’m actually getting surgery on my ankle later TODAY, so wish me luck!

Dress: Josa Tulum // Bikini Top: Target // Satchel: Violet Ray

I really tried not to let the injury ruin our honeymoon. After all, we paid so much for this vacation, and we didn’t want it to go to waste. We decided to stay for the remaining duration of the trip, since the doctor told me that surgery could wait until I was back in the States. Thus, my trip consisted of hanging by the pool and getting some weird tan lines.

Satchel: Violet Ray // Sunnies: Ray-Ban

My sunnies and my satchel purse were essentially my top two essentials of the whole trip! If you have never gone on an inclusive Caribbean trip, I would recommend packing very light. I found that I wayyyy overpacked what I needed. Keep it simple! Most of the trip, you are just going to be lounging.

IMG-2560Swimsuit coverup: Le Salty Label

I still wanted to blog my outfits, it kept my spirits up!

Top: Maurices // Bikini top: Target // Shorts: Walmart

This camo tee is the perfect tee for any occasion! It knots at the bottom for an effortless, fun fit.

Straw tote: Francesca’s¬†// Hat: Buckle // Flip flops:¬†Reef Bliss

Easy beach essentials! This hat is a huge necessity for shielding the sun. Unfortunately, I was not able to go by the ocean during the trip, which was the biggest bummer of all. I love the ocean and it is what I was most looking forward to seeing in Punta Cana. However, sand and casts do not mix well together! Trevor and I did manage to lay by the ocean once, but it was a huge hassle getting me down there, so we vowed to stay by the pool for the rest of the trip.

Romper: American Eagle

I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this romper!¬†It’s lightweight and has a cozy fit. I wore this to dinner one night

Top: Tilly’s // Shorts: American Eagle

Because my functionality was limited on the trip, I want to give my husband a HUGE shout out for taking such good care of me, and for cracking jokes to keep me smiling. He has been a huge help through all of this. I love you, Trev.

It’s crazy how much we take good health for granted. Breaking my ankle and not being able to do anything for the past week has taught me to slow down in life and appreciate the good people and beauty around me. I’ve been thinking a lot what it means to slow down in life. More on that reflection in my next post!

That’s it for now. I have to start prepping for my surgery. Happy New Year! I hope 2018 brings you happiness and good health!

Oh my goodness!! You are so lucky you had a good experience, my dad went on a trip for business to Punta Canta a few years back and his partner got sick and they would not let him leave because his insurance didn’t cover his stay. It was nightmare. He finally was released like 4 days later.

    • Oh my gosh, that is terrible!!!!! What a nightmare! Yeah, I don’t think we will be going back to Punta Cana anytime soon!!

  • All of your outfits are so cute and I’m glad that despite a couple setbacks you had a great honeymoon! I hated hearing about your fall/ankle, but I’m glad that it wasn’t worse for you. Best wishes as you go into surgery- hoping for a speedy recovery for you!

  • I am SO SORRY about your ankle! And sending you all of the good vibes for a successful surgery and quick recovery today. I’m glad you were able to enjoy the rest of your trip. I didn’t even notice the bow on your cast until you mentioned it! It’s a nice touch on something so unfortunate. At least your outfits were amazing and you didn’t let the fall totally ruin your honeymoon! You’ll just have to have a do-over one of these days.

    • Thank you so much, Em! You are so sweet. It went well. It was quick and easy. I’m still waiting for the pain to kick in, as my leg is still numb, but it will be okay.
Yes, we totally will have to have do-over!! ūüėČ

omg I would have DIED. You kept in such good spirits!!!

    • I did, partially, inside.

  • AH! I’m so sorry about your ankle. Your outfits are gorgeous though!

  • I live in the Caribbean and they are all perfect for our weather! Love the pineapple bag!

    • You do!!! Gah! I’m jealous of where you live!! Do you ever get sick of paradise?

  • I was wondering what happened when I saw your cast on Snapchat! It would have freaked me out to go to the hospital, too. When I was 18 I spent a few months in West Africa and I got really sick once. I wasn’t able to eat anything and whenever I drank water it went straight through me. There was a cholera outbreak at the same time, so there was some concern, and they wanted to take me to the hospital, but I really didn’t want to go. Eventually they gave me a day to drink a pitcher of kool-aid with salt and to see if the salt would help me retain water. If it didn’t they were going to take me to the hospital, but luckily it did the trick.

I hope your surgery went well! And that satchel is adorable. Might have to pick it up sometime.

    • The experience was actually really good, despite my fear. The doctor was excellent and a sweetheart. She even put that bow on my cast. But yes, it was all so scary! The recovery has been slow, but I think it taught me a lot about slowing down, and work/life balance (I’ve been dying to go back to work).

Thanks for always following along. You are so valuable to me!

  • All of your outfits were so cute! I love your violet ray satchel too!

  • I’m so sorry you broke your ankle on your honeymoon! That would be so hard but it sounds like you handled it with so much grace. Hope you heal up soon!

    • Thanks, love. I’m trying!!
