Happy Monday friends! It’s been crazy around here…if you follow me on Snap or Insta you already know that this weekend we came home with our adorable furry little nugget, a 7-week old golden retriever named Shadow! I can’t even express how in love we are! I’m sure it won’t take long for Shadow to make an appearance on the blog, so stay tuned! Anyways, because of the excitement of bringing home our puppy, I took a short blogging break this past week so I could truly devote my attention to him. I apologize for that, but sometimes you have to take breaks to remind yourself about what’s really important. I’m so excited for today’s post, so let’s get started!
Shop Local: Giving Back
I’m sharing my first partnership with Apricot Lane, a super adorable boutique located in Green Bay Wisconsin. UGH I’m totally obsessed with this place. Stepping into the store, I feel like I found my long lost spirit animal. Not only are the clothes so fun and free-spirited, but Apricot Lane is all about giving back to both local and national causes such as human trafficking, domestic violence, and more; as well as participating and hosting a variety of community events right in the heart of Green Bay. Apricot Lane is more than just a locally owned clothing boutique; they offer a variety of cute gifts and trinkets that support causes that I love, such as the Giving Keys! I made a personal goal in 2017 to get more involved with my community and to use my blog reach for good, so I appreciate working with brands that have the same mission. In fact, Apricot Lane is helping me out with my recent House of Hope fashion clothing donation drive (which by the way, only one week left to donate!) The bottom line; shopping locally is important to me, especially when those shops give back.
How to Layer Spring Transitional Pieces
When it comes to spring essentials, Apricot Lane has back! When I think of spring, I think of bright colors and layers (because it’s still a little chilly here in Wisconsin), so I’m already prepping my closet for drab winter to be over. Today’s look is all about layering and adding a pop of color. For this post, I wore a fun bell-sleeve floral layered with a tan leather jacket with knit leggings. To complete the look, I added a fun warm-toned necklace and a mustard yellow bag (which y’all know I absolutely crush over anything mustard yellow!) And to top it off, with the best accessory there is – a cup of coffee, duh. 😉
I think that sometimes layering pieces stresses people out, but it doesn’t have to! Mixing patterns is totally in right now, but for this post, I stuck with a matching theme. To start off, try adding a satchel purse that matches similar tones with your top or dress. My mustard bag matched the warm tones of my floral perfectly; just enough to make the florals pop. If you live somewhere cold like I do, cute knit leggings are a MUST! I always get nervous wearing white leggings because I don’t want to look too washed out, but I thought these leggings complimented the rest of the outfit very nicely. Lastly, add a cute spring jacket to complete the outfit, such as a tan leather jacket! Leather jackets are staple for me because they legit go with ANYTHING, girlfriend! I think I have 3 or 4 leather jackets that I just constantly rotate.
And there you have it, quick and easy layering that completes a fun and flirty spring look! If you struggle with layering, don’t feel ashamed to ask for help when you stop in at Apricot Lane- those girls are SO friendly and sweet! They would LOVE to help style your outfit. I highly encourage you to head on over to your local Apricot Lane and see the newest arrivals. You can even shop via social media by calling the store and asking the ladies to hold items or ship for you!
