Omg guys!

In the middle of all life’s chaotic craziness, I missed my blogiversary! It was December 6th! lol! I’m so proud to share with y’all that Inspiration Indulgence turned TWO YEARS OLD last week! This post is to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to my readers because y’all know I would NOT be here today if it weren’t for you!

When I started my blog two years ago in the midst of my college graduation week, I had no idea it would turn into something where I could meet lifelong friendships all over the world, share my thoughts about life, get paid to collab with awesome brands, and connect with y’all on a daily basis. It truly has been a remarkable, humbling experience that I will NEVER take for granted. Guys, I’m still blown away that I get one person to visit my blog a day, let alone thousands of you!! It’s been a dream come true. Blogging is my passion and I wouldn’t be standing where I am today without my beautiful, supportive friends.

Blogging has changed my life in more ways that I can count. It has held me accountable to the promises that I make, has showed me the value of true friendship, and has shown me the power of words. Just for fun, I thought I’d share with you 5 ways that blogging has changed my life.

1.) I became more true to myself

My #1 goal with my blog is to be as genuine as possible. My first year of blogging, I tried all sorts of things that I THOUGHT my readers would like in order to fit into a tiny little box. In case you didn’t know, conformity sucks…and if you are trying to stand out, here’s a hint: Don’t conform. It wasn’t really until this year when I felt as if I found my true voice and my authenticity. Be who you are. Because people LOVE who you are! Your personal vibe attracts your tribe! Ultimately, blogging has helped me become more truer to myself, because y’all have inspired me that who I am is ENOUGH, just the way I am. And I thank you for that. xo

2.) I get to make an impact

I love blogging about fashion, but my passion is ultimately with blogging self-help posts. It is not always easy becoming vulnerable to share my personal struggles with you all, but they are the posts that seem to connect the most with my readers. I don’t think I could ever blog about just fashion, because there is SO much more to me than that! I also believe that my background in counseling sets me apart from other bloggers; it allows me to connect my two passions, fashion and helping others! I think of the sweet letters I have received over this past two years from readers about how they “really needed to read my body confidence post,” or “how reading A Letter to You When You’re Feeling Insecure helped me shift my thinking about suicide.” Those emails are priceless and validation that I need to keep doing what I’m doing!

3.) I’ve met friends all over the world

Through my blog, Instagram, Snapchat, and my other socials, I’ve had the opportunity to meet friends ALL OVER THE WORLD. Take my sweet friend Molly, from Seattle, whom I met on Instagram last year …and then went on to actually MEET IN PERSON this past summer! Also, take my sweet blogging besties Lindsay, from Chicago area, Kylie, from Kansas City, and Amanda, from Indiana, whom I’ve actually Skyped and talked on the phone with. Take my sweet friend Zana from Banja Luka, or my friend Kelly from Ontario, both ladies who I met on Instagram! I can’t believe that this platform allows me to connect with ladies all over the world. The wanderluster in me LOVES this, and I wish I could someday meet all of my internet friends. (I should note that unless you’re a blogger yourself, you might not get this and think I’m totally insane. lol).

4.) I get to make money doing what I love

I am not yet at the point of making a full time income (plus I’m just starting my counseling career), but the fact that I was able to quit my other part-time jobs to get paid to write, collaborate with my favorite brands, and post awesome outfits on my blog is STILL mind-blowing to me. I will never take this for granted. Like EVER.

5.)  I have newfound confidence

Blogging has allowed me to find my voice and believe in myself during trying times. Along the journey, I’ve met some nay-slayers and those who have scoffed at what I’m doing, but it pushes me even more to be different. There are not many fashion bloggers from the area where I am from, so I feel pretty weird at times wall-hunting and taking photos. However, I’ve used my fears to push myself to go out of my comfort zone, and to challenge myself to not care what others think about me. This awareness alone has been life-changing.

Again, I can’t thank you enough for being on this journey with me. It’s been so amazing, and I cannot wait to see what 2017 brings! To celebrate my love for y’all, I’m giving away a $100 Target gift card! (Bc that store is like my bank account’s arch nemesis and I know y’all are guilty of spending a weeee bit too much money there as well from time to time.) You can enter several ways below through Rafflecopter; you choose how many entries! Winner will be chosen randomly and will be notified by email as soon as giveaway ends. Giveaway runs from 12/12/16 12:00 AM CST until 12/19/16 12:00 AM CST. Good luck, babes!

  • Awe i love this post! I love seeing how bloggers have grown and changed. I love how you wrote about your journey from trying to conform to finding your authentic voice. I feel like I started off super clear on what my authentic voice was, but the last two months I have gone off track a little. I don’t know if its been business from the wedding or spending too much time consuming other people’s content, but i feel a little out of sorts. I want to get back on track before my anniversary in a few months!
