One of the hottest trends right now is wearing olive green, and for a good reason. I feel like this is one of the only colors besides black and white that looks good on literally ANYONE- blondes, brunettes, and red-heads. I’ve been working on investing more of this color in my closet because I’ve been told that it makes my eyes stand out. I’m super excited to share with you this cute look!
Not exactly sure how to pair a solid color look? Here are my tips to style the all-green trend.
1.) Wear varying shades
As you can see, the leather jacket is a bit darker than my dress, which adds that contrast and eye-popping look to make a statement. Unless you’re wearing all black or all white, you don’t want to overdo it and look like a giant eyesore. Contrast adds varying shades so you look chic and well put-together.
2.) Go for leopard heels
I’ve always been a sucker for these leopard heels from Charlotte Russe because I haven’t found one outfit I can’t wear with them yet; weather it’s a casual look with my boyfriend jeans, or a dress like this one that I could wear out. The shade of the heels goes perfectly with the olive tones.
I will admit that I have a hard time wearing obnoxiously tall heels like these! I’m more of a wedges kinda gal and seriously need to practice my stiletto skills. But guys what have you learned from me?! …You have to fake it till you make it. And these beauts were calling my name.
3.) Think gold-toned accessories
I paired this dress with a bronze necklace and my Dooney & Bourke bag (which I might add- I just picked up from Plato’s and was only $80!). (Not gonna lie- if you expect me to be sporting designer brands every week, this is NOT the blog for you. #SorryNotSorry. I’m a student and my budget is CHEAP.) So that’s why I’ve been having a field day that I bought this bag for such a cheap price. Even if it’s used- I seriously don’t care!! It’s like brand new.
Any who, gold hues work best with the olive tones. If you are wearing printed heels, be careful not to over-accessorize; you don’t want to look too blinged out.
It feels amazing to finally be wearing spring clothes. April is that time of the year in Wisconsin when we will have a 70 degree day and then get hit with a snow storm. I’ve been taking the great weather lately day by day with gratitiude. This was definitely one of those days where I felt content and was loving life. I feel confident and sexy in this outfit, which is needed after a long winter and my lack of Vitamin D! (Psst we aren’t judging my ghost white legs here. K?)
Above all, here’s the takeaway from this post. You can where ANY TREND your little heart desires with some confidence. I’m serious!!! Slip on a pair of heels, put on a smile, and rock it, girlfriend. Fashion is a form of self-expression; don’t dull your inner sparkle! Let yourself shine, lovelies.
Pssst! Speaking of confidence, did you get a chance to check out Wednesday’s post? I talked all about my battle with self-image and body insecurities, and how I’m finally overcoming the stereotypes of what media tells us we should be like. If you need a confidence booster, I highly encourage you to check it out! XO
