Thank you so much for being patient with me while I traveled the past week and a half. This vacation was a much-needed getaway, and I feel refreshed and so inspired! I mentioned before in this post that I was going to do my best to unplug and not write, and that’s exactly what I ended up doing. (Okay, okay…except for some Instagramming!)
Trevor and I first spent two nights in New Orleans (the most dope city ever) before meeting some friends at Clearwater, but New Orleans is for another post! This post is all about F L O R I D A.
I was so pleased with our stay at the Pelican Pointe. Right on the Gulf, the hotel was colorful and cute! The staff was super friendly and we were within walking distance to our friends’ hotel.
And what can I say about Clearwater Beach! It was absolutely gorgeous there. We saved a lot of money staying in January versus the busy season in March-April, and it was a little bit on the chilly side! When we arrived, the temperature was 55 degrees. But hey- I’m not complaining. Meanwhile in Wisconsin, temps were below zero!!!
The day after we arrived in Clearwater, we drove over to Orlando to hit up Universal Studios.
I was beyond stoked to see Harry Potter World. In case you didn’t know, I’m the hugest Harry Potter fan in the world. Like, so much that I cried when I stepped foot into Hogwarts.
On the other hand, Trevor has never read the books nor seen the movies in his life. I had to experience the excitement by myself, although he was very impressed with the architecture and fine detail. (SO impressed, in fact, that the second we got home from vacation, he suggested that we have a Harry Potter marathon!)
I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing Harry Potter World was. It was like my imagination came to life. Universal Studios nailed EVERY SINGLE DETAIL. From my ride on the Hogwarts Express to my strolls down Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, everything looked EXACTLY as it did in the movies. The hanging wall portraits were even moving in the castle! I was totally fangirling.
Oh. And don’t even get me started on the Butterbeer.
Now that I got the important stuff out of the way, I’ll show you some other things we did on the trip.
We took a drive to Tampa as well to visit the Florida Aquarium. I will never get sick of aquariums….they are always so fun!
Although we ate at so many amazing places, I think that the best meal I had was at the Clearsky Cafe. I had Nutella French toast and these amazing homemade hashbrowns- quite possibly the best brunch of my life! The service was great as well; our waitress was very friendly!
And of course….we had some good ol’ beach time. Ironically, our beach time was limited to walks in sweatshirts until our last day when it finally hit above 70 degrees. Nonetheless, I still had a blast and was happy to get my ocean fix. I swear, I’m part mermaid.
(Photo cred shoutout to my fiancé for making me feel like a beach goddess)
This was the view from the porch of our friends’ hotel a few blocks down. It was so nice to hang out with friends in Clearwater! Trevor and I have never traveled with other people rather than ourselves so it was a nice change-up.
Also, I can’t end this post without thanking my wonderful fiancé for planning yet another trip-of-a-lifetime. I love you, Trevor!
All in all, I probs gained about 10 lbs on this vacay with all the eating and drinking we consumed (never want to have another pineapple Malibu again) but hey- YOLO. Stay tuned for my blog post about our stay in New Orleans. Oh! And we nailed another 9 signs for our 50 State Sign Challenge! Look for that post as well.
Lastly, I just want you to know that I missed you all so much! Like I mentioned above, this trip was very needed, but I missed blogging. I feel so energized and ready to make 2016 my best year yet, and I have never felt more inspired or positive about the direction in which my life and this blog is going. I hope to keep inspiring you all through my travels!
Thanks for following me along and sharing my passion for traveling with me!
