2016 personal goals

I’ve seen a lot of bloggers throughout blogosphere post goals every 1st of the month. I never was into this because I wanted my blog to be about others instead of talking a lot about myself, but I decided to jump on the bandwagon for this one. Why? Because I’ve always been a huge goal setter, and I think it’s important to implement my philosophy into my writing. My mission behind Inspiration Indulgence is to inspire you to be the best version of yourself, and I believe that you can’t do that without goals! Goals drive my work ethic and success. Why shouldn’t I post my 2016 goals? I can’t wait to share with you my goals for the year, and I look forward to hearing all about your goals!

MY 2016 GOALS //

1.) Keep growing in my Master’s program

Most of you know that I’m in my first year of grad school in my Professional Counseling program. I originally was going to write down “Get all A’s” but honestly, that’s not what this program is about. My professors want to see us grow as individuals in the helping field, and a simple letter grade will not determine who we are. Our progress is measured by our practice, which is in turn measured by our growth. I desire to keep growing in my program, and to a keep a positive attitude during the times when it especially mentally and emotionally trying on me.

2.) Learn how to use my camera

bloggersgonnablog

Guys! For Christmas I got a Nikon D3200!! Except…I have no idea how to use it. I’m so excited to learn! I have been wanting a nice camera literally my whole life so this is a HUGE deal for me.

3.) Save for my wedding // start planning

My wedding isn’t until October of 2017, but it sure is coming fast! It seems like only yesterday I got engaged. I didn’t really plan much in 2015 because it still seemed so far away. This is the year of the wedding planning!! I’m going to have to refer back to this post I wrote a few months ago where I asked 30 brides what they would do differently on their wedding day!)

4.) Continue to grow my blog

Inspiration Indulgence turned one year old on December 14th, and my- has it grown since then! What started off as a fun hobby turned into a side business and (what seems to be!) a full time job! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

My blog goals specifically are as follows:

ChelsHat

-Learn how to be a more efficient and successful fashion blogger
You may have already seen that I’m been focusing more on fashion lately. My goal is to work with more companies and implement my personal style weekly on my blog.

-This year, hit 100,000 pageviews a month at some point.
I’ve hit 42,000, and I can’t seem to get past that.

-Grow my Instagram to 10K
Instagram is my baby. I want to find increase my followship by engaged, genuine readers within my lifestyle niche, with an emphasis on fashion and traveling.

-Grow my Facebook page
I’m at 1,365 likes right now. By 2017, I would love to hit 3,000.

-Get published in Huffington Post
I’ve been trying, and trying, trying. But so far, no luck.

-Blog 4 posts a week instead of just 3
This is sort of going to be an experiment. With my new class load, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to handle four posts in a week, but I’ll sure try my hardest!

Attend a blogging conference
Not 100% sure if this will be in the budget, but this is definitely on my bucket list.

5.) Finish traveling the lower 48 states

IMG_2050

We have 33 states thus far. By 2017, I want to have traveled to all of the continental U.S. states. Trevor is the mastermind behind all of this planning and I already know that he’s been doing some research!

6.) Get back into the fitness routine

Specifically: Workout 4-5 times a week.

Big fail in 2015. I’ve been extremely disappointed. In college, I used to work out 4-6 times a week religiously. Once I graduated college in December of 2014 and moved back home (where there isn’t a readily available gym), my routine suffered hardcore. Helloooo reality check! But 2016 is the year of no excuses! I haven’t gained any weight but I can tell that I’m very out of shape.

7.) Go to church more

I’ve been a slacker lately. Time to visit God more often.

8.) Cook more

Specifically: 2 home-cooked, HEALTHY meals a weak (And no, this does not include anything from a box!) Again, another fail of 2015. I actually found myself to be cooking more homemade meals in college, back when I thought I didn’t have any time at all! Now that I’m working more AND doing school, it’s been hard. Especially when I started my blog, I found that I just didn’t have time to cook anything. It was the year of Hamburger Helper, Spaghetti’s, and eating out. Not proud.

These are my goals for 2016. I’ve officially bared my soul to you so you can keep me on track!! What are your goals of 2016? Let’s create a supportive community! Please leave me a comment below!

Xoxo,

  • Love the picture of you with the camera and your blogging shirt! I have so many things on my to do list but can’t quite get the motivation to write out any goals (blogging or otherwise). I’m just trying to take it one day at a time right now. Happy new year!

    • Thanks Jill!!! You got this. I believe in you, and that 2016 is going to be your best year yet!! Yes, one day at a time and baby steps…you will get right where you need to be. Breathe in, breathe out, believe in yourself and have FAITH. :)

  • Happy New Year Chelsea! I hope 2016 is just as amazing as you wish! (I’m sure it will be!) I’m glad I found your blog this past year and I’m excited to follow along and see what’s next.

    • Aw Emily you are too sweet!!! Thank you so much, my dear! I’m so lucky to have loyal readers like you! Wishing you nothing but the best in 2016!

  • You’re amazing, girl! I absolutely know you’re going to hit all of your goals this year! I can’t wait to see what you do with your blog this year. I have a Nikon that I don’t know how to use well, so I’m hoping to figure that out this year as well!

    • Aw thanks so much! It’s a bit overwhelming. I leave for Florida in 5 days so I’m hoping I can figure it out by then lol!!

  • Belle Vie A Deux

Your goals are so nicely thought out and seem like you are going to get them! I want to grow my photography skills this year too!

    • Thank you so much! It’s a little overwhelming but I know I can do it :)

  • Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry

Chelsea, I am looking for a new camera also and I would have no idea how to work it either. Instagram is my favorite and I am really trying to grow mine. I don’t want to buy followers. I love yours and do follow. Keep goal making. The wedding will come fast, enjoy the journey.

    • I don’t want to buy followers either! To me, that’s chinsey.Thank you so much for the follow! Best of luck in 2016!! xo What is your IG again? (Want to be sure I’m following!)

      • Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry

        @fitnessmomwinecountry :)

  • Great Goals for the year. Hope you do well with your masters and i feel you on the working out lol. I’m working on that too!

    • Yay! We are in this together!

  • These are awesome goals and a lot of the same ones are on my list! I also got a camera for Christmas and have no clue how to work it so this will be a top priority. Kudos to you for ever working out 4-6 times each week. Even when I was in Miami I couldn’t find the time to make that happen and now I have even less time. I’m hoping to start slow with a goal of 3x/week and build from there!

    • I’m with you on that one! I’m planning on starting at 3X a week and working my way up to 5!!

  • Joanna M

Good luck with your MA. It’s hard work, but it is really fulfilling once you are done (have mine in Teaching English). It’s very interesting to see other people’s goals. I got 3500 views last month and I was like ‘wow’. Haha still need to grow more. Slow and steady wins the race.

    • Of course! I’m sure you have a full time job as well…I’m working part time, so I have more time to blog. Yes, slow and steady wins the race! It’s so awesome you have your master’s in English.

  • Good luck in your Master’s program! That is something I want to start looking into this year. It’s scary, but I think it’s time to take the leap.

    • You can totally do it! If you love education, that is, it’s the perfect fit :)

  • Amy

I love your goals and I always look forward to reading your blog in the mornings! A camera takes a lot of practice and teaching yourself until it works. I’m sure Pinterest can help!
For me, my goals are focused on my spiritual health and my physical health and also going along the lines of NO EXCUSES. More specifically, exercising unless I absolutely cannot. Drinking 64oz of water and cutting out the crap I drink. And saving money to buy a car. I tend to buy pointless things and I don’t want to anymore, I want to save for a car for my senior year in college!

    • Amy-aw you read my blog in the AM? Thank you, sweet girl! I love your goals! I’m going to work hard to cut the excuses as well! Right after I graduated college I bought my first “big girl” car and it was SO worth it.

  • Great goals! Good luck in 2016. Grad school is so worth it!

    • Thank you so much,Heather! I’m nervous but I know it will be worth it.

  • Great goals!!! Good luck on your masters! I have mine in psychology! It’s challenging but so worth it! Looks like you have grown a ton o er the year! Congrats!!

    • That’s so awesome, Katie!

  • Greta Hollar

Great goals! good luck in 2016. Happy New Year!

    • Thanks so much, Greta! Happy 2016!

  • Best of luck in your Master’s program! I got mine in 2014 and I felt I really grew throughout the program! Just keep pushing yourself! And I feel ya about the wedding saving. That’s top on my list this year. We have a November wedding quickly approaching!

    • That’s so exciting, Dara!! A November wedding will be beautiful! What do you have your Master’s in?

  • Good luck with all of your 2016 goals :)
I am sure that you’ll rock them.

    xoxo, Jenny

    • Thank you so much Jenny! xo

  • Becky @Disney in your Day

These are awesome goals. I’m impressed with all of the things you do in addition to working on a masters program! I’m also really hoping to get to a blogging conference in 2016 but I’m not sure if it will work out. Fingers crossed!

    • Thanks Becky! Life is pretty hectic. One of my other goals that I forgot to list is to work on balance! Cheers to us in 2016!

    Keep smiling!

  • These are some awesome goals and we have some similar ones! Everyone says taking pictures in manual mode is so much better for quality images and so I really need to look into that. I also seriously need to get myself back to the gym… it’s been way too long! I don’t doubt you’ll end up taking this year by storm!

    ♡ Julia | lifeofjules.com

    • I barely know what manual mode is. lol. Still need to learn my camera!!! And we GOT THIS!!!!

  • Dana Brillante-Peller

I too feel that if I write out my goals, it helps to organize them better and make me that much more accountable! How did you get to so many pageviews?! That is AMAZING!!!

    • Thanks Dana! PINTEREST!!!! Pinterest is EVERYTHING!! :)

  • I’m with you girl. Time to wedding plan. I definitely want to visit that brides post often!!

    • I will be referring back to it! :)

  • I got a new camera as well and can’t wait to figure out how to use all the cool features it has! I also have some fitness goals, which is simply getting out of the house and participating in something more active. Oh the shame! Lol.

    http://chasethewritedream.com

    • That’s not shame at all! You should be proud of yourself for wanting to make a positive change in your life! :)

  • Thank you for sharing your goals! I am a goal-setter so I love talking about goals and hearing what others would like to accomplish too. Goals inspire me :)

    • AW well thank you for reading my goals! Glad I could be an inspiration to you.
