Hi everyone, and welcome! First off, just let me say thank you SO MUCH for taking the time out of your busy day to read my blog; I sincerely appreciate it! Disclaimer: This is my very first post, so bear with me. I have wanted to start a blog for many years, but decided it was in my best interest to wait until I graduate college so I can focus more of my time and energy on my posts instead of school work. Well…. that didn’t happen. Here I am, graduating in one week, with still 4 exams to study for, and I decide to create a blog instead of study. LOL.
Today, I want to talk with you about something I am extremely passionate about; traveling. I’ll be completely honest… I am not much of a saver. College has given me debt up to my knees. I have a car that has nearly 200,000 miles on it that makes it through each bitter Wisconsin winter through faith and prayer alone. However, if I can promise you anything, blowing money on my recent travel excursions has been the best decision of my life and has been 110% worth the money. Here’s why:
Traveling broadens your horizons.
Coming from a small town in northern Wisconsin, I had never realized how much traveling would influence my worldview. Experiencing different cultures will totally open your eyes to see that there is so much life beyond the life you live day-to-day. Even traveling across the country, you will be amazed to see how differently some Americans live from the life you live. This leads to a greater appreciation and a respectful attitude towards others’ differences.
You’ll meet the coolest people.
When we were visiting the Grand Canyon, we met a group of people from London. It was so fun to have a conversation with them and hear about their experiences. You never know, you could make friends and create connections for a place to stay when you plan your next travel destination!
Traveling inspires you.
Simply put, you can do anything you put your mind to. I find traveling gives me a sense of peace and inspiration that there are endless opportunities awaiting around the corner. Do you need a new start? Some down time? Need to reflect and think about where your life is heading? Traveling is so exciting because everything is new and foreign to you. Give yourself some inspiration and visit a place somewhere out of your comfort zone. It may help you realize what you are looking for in life.
Lastly, and most importantly, your personal experiences amount to SO MUCH MORE than any materialistic item.
Take it from a shopaholic, I love buying shoes, clothing, etc. just as much as the next person. But these experiences that you accumulate will be life-long memories that will stay with you until the day you die. This past summer, I was at first a little hesitant when my boyfriend suggested that we take a 4,000 mile cross-country road trip that was out of my budget at the time. Let me tell you, that money spent was worth the high I felt when I stood overlooking the Grand Canyon.
So take it from someone who recently has been infected with the travel bug. Once it hits you, you’re infected for life. I promise you won’t regret spending your money this way!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Stay tuned for more posts, and have a great day!
